Oh Boy
Ok is this a pro or anti Obama ad?

I can at least understand why he would think we should pull out of Iraq. That makes sense to me even if I don't support the statement. but everything else about the nuclear weapons? People need to understand that fucking genie is out of its lamp (or bottle, depending on the genie really). We need to have nukes FOREVER and we need to continue to develop them so they stay as fucking scary as possible. Do you think China, India, Russia or Pakistan is going to give them up? Not in a fucking million years. Wake the fuck up.

Seeing this has made me think I may end up voting for McCain. Ugh.

I can't blame you.

I wouldn't negotiate with Russia for anything. They just sold a bunch of arms and fighter jets to Venezuela. And obviously, Chavez is such a great friend of the U.S.

This whole thing just sucks for everyone.

It's not your fault...Obama is forcing your hand.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing as [info]partywhipple. I've been promising to write in a friend of mine, but Obama is just so unbelievably dangerous that I will have to change my voting policy this year. Neither Clinton nor Gore nor Kerry was like Obama, so I always voted my conscience. This will be the first time in my life that I have voted against someone else instead of for someone. Make no mistake: I DO NOT SUPPORT JOHN MCCAIN. It's just that Obama is so extremely dangerous that I absolutely must do what I can to keep him out of office.

Please, God, help us.

He really fucking is. And the worst part is I'm going to do it and the bastard's going to win anyway.

Virginia is potentially in play, so I'm considering a McCain vote even though I'd like to make a third-party statement. I've been sure for a while that I'm not voting for Obama and this is just one more reason why. But I'm vacillating on whether to vote McCain or third party/write in. I don't give much credit to campaign promises on either side, but I do pay attention to ideology, and I think I will prefer the way McCain doesn't live up to campaign promises more than I will like Obama's attempt to live up to his own.

For all of the Obama campaign's condemnation of backward-looking at the Cold War, his talk of negotiating with Russia over pussification is exactly that. We've been at nuclear impasse with Russia for decades: it even survived a Russian regime change. I'm more concerned about the new and potential nuclear powers, some of which have a very specific hatred for the U.S. If they negotiate with us diplomatically they're still going to look for ways to fuck us when we're off guard. For a candidate intent on diplomatic solutions to international quandaries, Obama seems to ignore that military advantage is a powerful diplomatic tool, that it is always advantageous to negotiate from a position of strength. We should maintain our strength, and not discourage defense investment.

I was going to vote third party, but they haven't really caught my interest either. My latest thought is that I might vote for Palin...not my fault if she's running with McCain.

Unfortunately, the add takes a longer section out of context. Yup, I think that cuts in nuclear arsenals is a great idea, but only interms of tactical nukes, as opposed to strategic nukes. There's no need for nuclear landmines, for example. But there sure is for ICBMs, especially with Putin about.

Being a Canucklehead, I will admit that the war with Iraq seemed like a descent into bizzaroworld. Personally speaking, I think if Bush Jr had gone on TV and said "Hey, this guy tried to assassinate my dad, while I was your President. I'm Pres now and we're going to take him out" folks may have actually supported him. The three days after the fall of Baghdad is a terrible, terrible thing. However, the new Prez is going to inherit both Iraq and Afghanistan, and the question becomes what to do, right?

See, regardless of the reason for going into Iraq, when the focus pretty clearly should have been Afghanistan all along, you're there now. You can't go back in time and make it not happen. See, unlike a lot of folks I don't have a sense of impending doom about your upcoming election. Well, at least, not until Palin. Both candidates have spoken about Iraq, at length in terms of responsibility, and the need to clean up the mess. I think that's a start. Leaving Iraq Nov 5th, or "Bringing the Troops home" (which we get a lot of up here in relation to Afghanistan), is a terrible idea. The only way to make it work, now that they're there, is to fix the problem, finish rebuilding the society and then go. It's like going to bed with an ugly chick who's also your boss. Maybe you shouldn't have gone in there, but you're there now. You have to do the job right or suffer some rather dire long term consequences. Pull out too soon and it'll haunt you for ever.

Reasons aside I agree. There's a job to finish in Iraq and it's ridiculous to stop now, no matter the reasons for it starting.

I don't think he is being taken out of context. I think he is spewing garbage he thinks no one could disagree with. I'm getting really tired of hearing everyone say he's being taken out of context or, my favorite, that was x amount of time ago you can't judge him for it now. The dude is just as fucking shady as every other politician. Maybe more so. Anyone who doesn't acknowledge he has VERY questionable ties to bad people is being blind. Obama, by the way, could not get a Secret clearance in the Federal Government with those ties. Why the hell should I let him run 1/3 of it?

And the smear campaign against Palin is fucking dumb. She's got more experience than Quayle had in 92 and she's a hella lot smarter than him. People who say any elected politician is stupid are ignorant. You have to be smart and fucking devious to get into a high office. She may be evil, fine, but she ain't dumb. If you're worried about her being evil then ignore this last rant, I won't argue that point with you :P

Holy shit. Not that there was ever a question for me that I would vote for Obamination, but damn! Stop development of all future weapons systems? Is he fucking insane?

This was probably prior to his winning the nomination, when he was pulling for the far left vote... before he changed his spots and started pandering to the center.
